If you want a random well priced Ukrainian experience where you find random things like butter in the fire cupboard or abandoned floors in the hotel this is the place for you. It was well priced and added to our experience of this mental, random and wonderful city.
We loved this place - the furnishings were original, the decor was very tired (and I wouldn’t touch that bedspread with a barge pole) but it was clean and basic; a good base.
The breakfast was very comprehensive in an ostentatious grand room facing independence square - which gave a real sense and reminder of the history this hotel has been involved in. The lifts were pretty sketchy and I would not step foot out on the balcony if my life depended on it, by the staff, breakfast and atmosphere made up for it.
Great food round the corner at Chicken Kyev which knocks the socks off of the chicken Kiev’s we normally buy from Aldi.
This is one of the best old school hotel that I ever stayed. Soviet era infrastructure and beautiful place. Located right in the middle of Kiev. Will go and stay again :)
Better then I expected! I went in knowing that it would not be in the same category as most western style hotels but was very pleasantly surprised! The price is unbeatable for what the hotel has to offer and surpasses many hotels that cost twice the price back in the states. There’s a lot to see and do in the surrounding area with many places to eat and shop. I actually stayed 2 separate times during the same trip and both times were good. WiFi was good in both rooms I stayed in. I’d recommend you give it a shot
Hotel Ukraine is a Soviet-era hotel that is partially converted to modern standards. The price and location are excellent, though the rooms are not the most comfortable.
The staff are friendly, the breakfast is tasty, and the location is fantastic. It is a short walk to Maidan square, and overlooks it without being in top of it. The short distance removes most of the noise.
It have stayed there several times, and I will stay there again. The value is great! Just don't go there expecting a Hilton comfortable bed.
Very good prices - maintained quality to offer. In the center of the city, with a very interesting area, ideal as a starting point. I am not bothered by the atmosphere of past years, it was okay. I hope I will come back there again :)
